Reggimento Dragoni Assia-Darmstadt

Esercito Austriaco della Guerra dei Sette Anni, 1756–1763

By decree dated 4 novembre 1733, Oberst Alexius Graf D’Ollone raised a dragoni reggimento at his own expense. The cadre of experienced officers e men had been transferred from other imperial regiments. From 1746 to 1768, Ludwig VIII. Landgraf d’Assia-Darmstadt owned the reggimento, followed by his son, Erbprinz Georg Wilhelm Prinz d’Assia-Darmstadt who became the Inhaber until 1773. During the Guerra dei Sette Anni il reggimento fought at the Battles of Kolin, Breslau, Leuthen, Hochkirch, e Torgau.

Reggimento Dragoni Assia-Darmstadt was distinguished from other reggimenti dragoni austriaci by its red coat without lapels, e the light straw-coloured button-less vest in stile corazzieri con green edging.
