Reggimento Cavalleggeri di Löwenstein

Esercito Austriaco della Guerra dei Sette Anni, 1758–1763

By decree dated 1 febbraio 1758, Feldmarschall-Leutnant Graf Löwenstein raised un reggimento cavalleggeri of due companies as a component of his Dragoner-Regiment by the same name. The new reggimento received its own commander e the name Jung-Löwenstein. On 14 gennaio 1759, il reggimento cavalleggeri was increased by eight companies, e by decree dated 22 marzo 1759 it was separated from its parent regiment.

FML Graf Löwenstein turned over his Dragoner-Regiment to Feldmarschall-Leutnant Saint-Ignon e became the Inhaber of the new reggimento cavalleggeri di Löwenstein. In 1761, il reggimento cavalleggeri was increased to the twelve company establishment of the Austrian dragoni regiments. During the Guerra dei Sette Anni, i cavalleggeri di Löwenstein fought at the Battles of Hochkirch, Kunersdorf, Landeshut, Liegnitz, e Freiberg.

Light straw-coloured leather breeches were worn on campaign. Il reggimento cavalleggeri di Löwenstein was distinguished from Dragoner-Regiment Saint-Ignon by its white buttons.
