The Mongolian Exhibits at EXPO 2000

Gate of the Mongolian Camp at EXPO 2000 in Hannover, Germania

The entrance to the outdoor section of the Mongolian exhibits at EXPO 2000 in Hannover, Germania. Jugding from the construction of the gate, Mongolian camps seem to have been fortified against surprise attack, using abatis ed other simple barricades which can be constructed from materials found near the campsite. Ornate camp gates like this one are relatively easy to transport, ed only one o due are needed to provide the colourful tent city con that extra touch of class to satisfy the noble nomad. Less important entrances to a large camp may have been simple affairs, perhaps just openings in the surrounding abatis which were routinely guarded e closed after nightfall.
