Reggimento di Circolo Kurmainz

Esercito Imperiale della Guerra dei Sette Anni, 1757–1763

In 1757, il principato arcivescovo elettorale di Magonza provided un Reggimento Fanteria di Kurmainz of 16 compagnie fucilieri (4 battaglioni), 2 compagnie granatieri, ed eight cannoni reggimentali da 3-pdr for service coll’armata imperiale. Il Reggimento di Circolo Kurmainz consisted of compagnie drawn from Reggimento di Circolo Kurmainz di Wildenstein (garrison Magonza), Reggimento Fanteria di Ried (Erfurt garrison), e Reggimento Fanteria di Knorr. In addition, there was un Reggimento Fanteria di Kurmainz, con 18 compagnie organized on the Austrian pattern, serving in the armata austriaca from 1756 to 1763.

General Soubise rated the Reggimento di Circolo Kurmainz well, based on its performance at the Battle of Rossbach. However, the quality of the reggimento decreased in the course of the war, as inexperienced replacements were recruited to fill its depleted ranks. The new recruits proved less reliable than the original household troops of Kurmainz.
