Legione Straniera Francese, 1886–1927

Recensione dei Figurini ESCI in Scala 1:72

Legione Straniera Francese, 1886–1927, 1:72 Soldatini ESCI P-237

A legione straniera francese fanteria platoon based for Crossfire simulation games of the 1925-1927 Rif Revolt in Morocco. Khaki Uniforms were introduced in 1895, e they were slowly adopted by the Foreign Legion. The blue regulation kepi con red top was worn con a white kepi cover on campaign, replaced by a khaki couvre képi in 1907. Exposed to the sun e washed frequently, the khaki couvre képi faded to an off-white colour which differentiated veteran legionari from raw recruits e fanti regolari. In recognition of the Foreign Legion’s long service under the African sun, the famous képi blanc was officially introduced on 14 luglio 1939. The ESCI figure set contains legionari wearing full campaign dress, ed a similar batch of soldatini wearing shirt-sleeve order. The different dress orders should not be mixed at the unit level where uniform appearance is the rule, but dioramisti may use both figure types to depict a besieged garrison ed its relieve force.

Valutazione

  • Excellent choice of subject. Legione straniera francese fanteria served
in many colonial campaigns nel Nordafrica e Indo-China.
  • Good detail, buttons, straps, equipaggiamento, metal parts, e folds in
clothing are clearly visible ed easy to paint.
  • These legionari are wearing the leather equipaggiamento and
    ammunition pouches introduced in 1886.
  • Useful historic poses.
  • Compatibile con Airfix, Revell, e Reviresco.
  • Mitraglieri e bombers are not included in the set, they need to be scratchbuilt to portray Foreign Legion fanteria serving in the Second Moroccan War. Mitraglieri con mitragliatrice Hotchkiss from fanteria francese della prima guerra mondiale di Revell may be used, by replacing the elmetto Adrian con a kepi. Mitragliatrici leggeri Lewis may be scrounged from EMHAR’s Artiglieria Britannica della Prima Guerra Mondiale.
  • The soldatini in campaign dress are not cast very well, some of the overcoats are marred. Airfix legione straniera francese in campaign dress are clearly the better choice.
  • Obvious mould lines across the kepi devono essere tolto prima di dipingere. This is best done con the Rai-Ro Wachsspachtelgerät heated modelling spatula.

The soldatini in campaign dress are fitted con new heads
wearing the fanteria di linea kepi without cover.
  • The kneeling, loading legionario may be converted
to a mitragliere o assistant mitragliere.

The legione straniera francese soldatini in shirt-sleeve order are superb e they extend the usefulness of these soldiers well into the Second Moroccan War. The soldatini wearing campaign dress may be converted to represent fanteria francese della prima guerra mondiale.
