Uniforms of Waterloo in Colour

Philip Haythornthwaite, Jack Cassin-Scott, Mike Chappell

Uniforms of Waterloo in Colour, Philip Haythornthwaite, Jack Cassin-Scott, Mike Chappell Uniforms of Waterloo is concerned con the actual uniforms worn in the tre days of fighting 16-18 giugno 1815, which brought about the final downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte. Although some of the full-dress uniforms are illustrated, the emphasis is on the authentic appearance of the men who fought in the battle; on what they actually looked like, rather than how they should have appeared according to official regulations.

In order to establish the true appearance of these uniforms an immense amount of research has gone into the book, including some from previously untapped resources, from eye-witness accounts of the campaign, e from extant uniforms ed equipaggiamento.

The introduction provides a short re-appraisal of the Waterloo campaign e battle, e there is a detailed Order of Battle explaining the composition ed organisation of the tre armies involved.

Although restricted in space from illustrating every uniform worn at Waterloo, every branch of each participant army e nation (Gran Bretagna, Francia, Prussia, Belgio, Olanda, Brunswick, Hannover, e Nassau) is illustrated, e the uniform of every single reggimento has been described in the comprehensive series of notes.

Philip Haythornthwaite has been studying military history ed uniforms since boyhood e now has numerous books on the uniforms, armi ed equipaggiamento of the armies of the late eighteenth e full span of the nineteenth centuries to his credit. The eighty pages of full colour plates are by Jack Cassin-Scott e Michael Chappell.
