Giocatori di wargame using the Airfix Opel Blitz truck in the troops transport o cargo role may want to consider a different towing vehicle for the PaK 40. Many Universal Carriers britannici were captured during the 1940 campaign in Francia, e they were subsequently used by the Wehrmacht. It would be entirely feasible to use Kettenschlepper Bren tractors in certain Panzerjäger units. The rear storage box of this vehicle has been removed to make room for quattro ammo boxes scrounged from the Hasegawa Field Camp Set. The vehicle interior still shows the original dark green camouflage colour dell’esercito britannico. The outside has been repainted con a bicolore Wehrmacht pattern.

Valutazione

• Excellent choice of subject. Airfix released this kit a long time ago, and it is still an import model.
• Scale model, loaded con detail. Hinges, rivet heads, panel lines, working parts of the elevating e breach mechanism are nicely sculpted.
• Very easy to build, only 14 parts. The gun, cradle, shield, sights ed elevating screws account for only 7 parts, these are the oggetti required for a Marder II tank destroyer vehicle conversion.
• The muzzle brake can be drilled open molto facilmente.
• The PaK 40 is a partially working model, the barrel can be raised or lowered, ed aimed to either side. The gun trails swing into the towing position, e the coupling on the Opel Blitz is secure enough for a drive across the living room carpet.
• The kit includes quattro gunners, enough to crew the PaK 40, e provide spare cannonieri for other models which are not as lavishly crewed as this one.
• Compatibile con Fujimi, Matchbox, Nitto, e VAC-U-CAST.
• The Opel Blitz truck included in this kit is the standard workhorse della Wehrmacht tedesca, it served as a cargo truck, e troop transport. The Airfix kit of the Opel Blitz is popular, e collezionisti will accumulate many more PaK 40 than they actually need in a wargame. One alternate use for spare PaK 40 guns is to convert them to self-propelled mountings.

• The original had a laminated shield consisting of due armour plates riveted together, but the model has a solid shield. The problem can be corrected by engraving a thin line in the top edge of the shield.

The Airfix kit of the PaK 40 offers excellent value for money, it includes the gun e crew in addition to an Opel Blitz truck for towing. The PaK 40 is an effective anti-tank weapon often seen in simulation games, e this kit provides all the necessary pieces to raise an anti-tank section.
