Carro Armato Inglese A.34 Comet I, Carro Incrociatore Pesante
The Comet I heavy cruiser tank was similar in layout to the A.27 Cromwell cruiser tank, except that it had a welded hull e torretta. The Comet carried a shortened 17 pdr gun, capable of defeating carri armati Tiger e Panther nemici, especially when using the new A.P.D.S. tank round which was introduced in 1945. Carri armati Comet were first issued to the 11a Divisione Corazzata in dicembre 1944, e they took part in the Rhine crossings in marzo 1945. The Comet became the carro da combattimento dell’esercito britannico after the war, it served in the Suez Canal Zone, Palestine, e West Berlin until 1958, when it was replaced by the Centurion tank. Many carri armati Comet were sold, e remained in servizio con other armed forces until the late 1970s. Modellini Disponibili

Utilizzo Storico
The Comet was the best carro armato britannico della seconda guerra mondiale, it proved a good match for carri armati Tiger e Panther nemici. However, in terms of armoured vehicle design, the Comet was a step back: it had vertical armour plate like the German Tiger I tank, rather than the more protective sloped plate of the Panther, carro armato medio T-34, o A.16 Crusader.
